| The Tekamah Carnegie Library wanted a program available for teens and Kay Appleby had a plan. There was a grant available from the Nebraska Library Commission, so Kay put in many long hours and hard work putting the grant together. Her hard work paid off because in a couple of weeks we got it! The next step in her exciting plan was to put together a group of teens who were willing to contribute their own unique styles towards furnishing the room to give it the "teen-touch". After a couple of months of hard work and pizza, the room officially was open to the public in 2005. The teen board then recruited other local teens to come and join us at our many extravagant parties (which are listed below in more detail). Unfortunately for us, Kay decided it was time to turn in her librarian book stamper and retire, but not before she found a new leader for the young teen group. Megan Anderson became the new over-seer. She brought new ideas to the meetings and kept things exciting. However, once again, it came time for Megan to turn in her own book-stamper and head off towards college in St. Louis. Terri Donnelly
is our current sponsor of the Teen Text club and has been doing a super
job at it. |

| Parties Done in the Past! | |||
Poetry Slam-This was one of our very first parties. The teens came together to eat pizza and explore the wonders of poetry. They read and composed poems to share with the entire group. They also were required to create poems using randomly drawn words from a hat! Hawaiian Luau- We danced, ate, and played games in true Hawaiian style. A Day Out to Kay's- For Kay's last party with the group, she decided to have a big party out at her house. They roasted hot dogs and made smores around a fire. |
