 Ensuring a Future

Andrew Carnegie believed so strongly in the library's role as the "people's university" that he ivested $50 million of his own dollars to build libraries in some 1,400 communities aroudn the trun of the century. Tekamah Public Library was on e of those built with Carnegie funds, and while there have been many changes over the years, our mission remains the same: To provide the books and information resources that people of all ages and backgrounds need to live, learn, and enrich their lives.

In 1993, the nonprofit the nonprofit Tekamah Public Library Foundation was created to provide another opportunity for patrons to help build and strengthen the library. Its goal is to preserve and prmote a well-equipped, well-used, and up-to-date library to meet the needs of area citizens. The first and most important thing any of us can do for our libraries is to use them and teach our children to use, appreciate, and support this great public service. However, also important in this time of tight budgets is financial support, both in the form of large and small donations.

How will your donation be used? It may be earmarked for expansion and renovation, building our newspaper microfilm collection, keeping the library current with new technological advancements, purchasing all types of resource materials, and children's programs and resources. Your contributions may take many forms, for example: gifts of both real or personal property from individuals, foundations, associations, or public and private corporations; direct gifts of cash or securities, memorial gifts in honor of a family member or friend; deferred figts through bequests, trust, or life insurance policies,;special gifts to support a particular programs designated by the donor; or direct gifts of cash or securities.
