Tekamah-Herman Preschool serves 40 children in the Tekamah-Herman School District. Children must be 4 years old by October 15th. The preschool is free of charge for residents fo the district.

Children attend four half days each week in either a morning or an afternoon seccion. The teacher, Linda Peterson, is an Early Child Specialist, Nebraska Certified PreK-9 teacher and has been teaching four and five year olds for 30 years. Kim Petersen is the para-professional and she is completed work to be highly qualified for the state of Nebraska.

The children are immersed in a child-center, hands-on, language rich enviroment. They are involved in small and large group activities and will experience learning in centers, such as: fire station, native american village, santa's workshop, beauty shop, post office, hospital, and restaurant. There are also reading, science, manipulative, sand, block/vehicle and art centers. Writing centers are ivolved in each of the centers. Music and stories are also an essential part of the preschoolers day. Large motor skills are developed as children have the opportunity to use the Herman School gym, and new playground.

Parents are encouraged to help or visit when ever they can. Parent-teacher conferences are held twice a year. A winter sing-a-long is held around Christmas and a final spring program is held in the evening in May. It has been found that a quality preschool experience helps with success in school.

Roundup is held each April
