The Tekamah-Herman Academic Decathlon team meets every Friday morning at 7:00 a.m. for breakfast and a study session. At competition they are tested over areas of Language and Literature, Art, Music, Science, Economics, and Math. At the State Competition they are to do an essay, interview, prepared speech, and an impromptu speech.
The team starts off the year with all the kids that sign up and go to two scrimmages. There are 3 areas of which the kids compete in. There are Honors, Scholastic, and Varsity. When it is time for regionals the coaches narrow the team to 12 kids. Those 12 compete at Regionals and then at state.
