NANCY PECK MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP
SCHOLARSHIP RULES
1. NAME
A. This scholarship shall be known as the "Nancy Peck Memorial Scholarship".
2. MONEY
A. The funds for this scholarship shall be deposited in the First National Bank Northeast in the Tekamah-Herman Public Schools Foundation account under the name "Nancy Peck Memorial Scholarship".
3. CONTROL
A. This scholarship shall be controlled by a committee composed of a Music Teacher, the Guidance Counselor of Tekamah-Herman Schools, two representatives of the family, and one Tekamah-Herman Businesswoman. The committee may, by 2/3 vote, modify Scholarship Rules to enhance its value or keep it in stride with changing times.
4. NUMBER OF SCHOLARSHIPS
A. There will be one scholarship awarded each year.
5. AMOUNT
A. The amount of the scholarship shall be determined annually by the committee. Basically the amount will be the interest that was earned during the year. Taking inflation into account, the principal may eventually be used, even to the point that it dissolves the scholarship. Hopefully the scholarship will be active for at least 25 years (2023).
6. FREQUENCY
A. This scholarship shall be awarded annually. The recipient may receive it from one to four years if the committee so approves and upon reapplication by the recipient.
7. ELIGIBILITY
A. The applicant must be a senior at or a former graduate of the Tekamah-Herman Community Schools or an applicant who attended there and must have successfully completed 2 years of music classes during high school.
B. The applicant must plan to attend and be accepted at a two- or four- year college. Consideration should also be given to the applicants who have been out of high school one or more years and now want to pursue an education beyond high school.
C. The applicants who are being considered for this scholarship shall have or did have a cumulative grade point average of 3.0.
D. Preference should be given to an applicant who plans to pursue a music related career. The applicant's financial need as well as community-wide citizenship will be considerations, also.
E. Notice of the availability of the scholarship shall be published in the Plaindealer annually.
