Boy Scout Troop 158 Scholarship Rules and Application

1. Name

This scholarship shall be known as the "Boy Scout Troop 158 Scholarship."

2. Committee

The selection committee will be comprised of a member of the Boy Scout Troop 158 Committee, an Eagle Scout of Troop 158, and an administrator of the Tekamah-Herman Public Schools or Tekamah-Herman Public Schools Foundation. Members of the selection committee will not be related to any applicant.

3. Eligibility

  1. Applicant must be a senior or a graduate of the Tekamah-Herman Public Schools.
  2. Applicant must plan to attend (or currently attend) an approved educational program beyond high school. This could be some type of college, vocational, trade, or business school.
  3. Applicant must have been actively registered in Boy Scout Troop 158 for three consecutive years.
  4. Adherence to the ideals of Scouting shall be the primary consideration for the award of this scholarship.
  5. Formal application is required. Forms are available by clicking on Application Form at the bottom of this application or through Troop 158 and must be returned to the academic counselor by April 15.

4. Preferences

    A. Eagle Scout
    B. Applicant who is not a current or past recipient of this scholarship
    C. Applicant who is currently active in some aspect of the Scouting program

5. Money

The funds for this scholarship will be made available through the Tekamah-Herman Public Schools Foundation.

6. Amount

The amount of this scholarship shall be determined by the selection committee. The amount will under no circumstances exceed the interest earned on the principal of the scholarship fund.

7. Frequency

  1. This scholarship will be awarded at most annually.
  2. The selection committee is not required to name a recipient every year.

8. Disbursement

The scholarship recipient will be announced at senior graduation. The monies will be paid for second semester enrollment, usually in January. The recipient shall return any portion of the scholarship amount which exceeds direct educational expenses (tuition, fees, and books).

9. Changes

Any changes governing this scholarship will be made by a 3/4 vote of the Boy Scout Troop 158 Committee.
