Thursday, August 5, 2004: Celebration Begins

  • 8 a.m. - 3 p.m. Order of the Arrow Boy Scouts, Goldenrod District; breakfast
  • 9 a.m. - 12 noon - Garden tours at the Pat and Richard Hancock farm
  • 1-6 p.m. Museum-Displays recognizing the 200th anniversay of Lewis and Clark's journey through the area and the 150t birthdays of Tekamah, Burt County and the Nebraska Territory
  • Photo display of area history - Tekamah City Auditorium
  • Library Displays
  • Lewis & Clark Mural
  • 5:30 p.m. Dinner and aconcert at Chatt Senior Center, performing "Liberty"
  • 6:30 p.m.-T-Bones will perform, followed by Historical storyteller Darrel Draper performing as George Drouillard, hunter, trapper, interpreter nd Indian signtalker for the Corps of Discovery
  • 7:30 p.m. - Old-Time Tent Revival
  • At dusk, outdoor movies screen by Limelight Productions. "Shrek" and "Grease" will be shown in Tekamah's downtown minipark

  • 9:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. Tekamah's Cruz'n For Fun-----Car, Truck, Tractor, Motorcycle, and Ugly Truck Show - sponsored by Plaindealer
  • 10:00 a.m. - 2 p.m. Petting zoo of exotic animals, old train depot
  • 10:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. Carnival - School Play Ground
  • 1-4 p.m. Special stamp cancellation; Tekamah Post Office, postal officials will cancel postage with a special Lewis and Clark stamp
  • 9:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. Display of Student Projects in the small room of the Auditorium
  • Carriage Rides starting at the Burt County Museum
  • Lewis & Clark Scavenger Hunt starting at the Mural
  • Library Displays- Tekamah's 150 years
  • 9 a.m. Historian Dale Clark performs as Capt. Lewis and features his Newfoundland dog, Seaman - Chatt Center--Additional shows at 10 a.m., 11 a.m., 2, 3, and 4 pm.
  • Food on Main Street: Vendors
  • 6 p.m. Free sweet corn and hot dog feed
  • 7:30 p.m. Old-time tent revival

Tekamah's Pelican Point Birthday Bash and Midwest Messenger's 35th Anniversary
Presenting Lonestar and Cledus T. Judd - 8 p.m. Outdoor concert at Northridge Country Club

  • Gates open to Premium Tickets at 5:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. for General Public Tickets

  • Fireworks to follow the concert

Sunday, August 8, 2004:

  • 9 a.m. - 12 noon - Garden tours at the Pat and Richard Hancock farm
  • Church Hours to be announced
  • 12:00 p.m. Parade of Honor- This parade starts at the court house and will lead to Memorial Park. The parade will honor the things that made Tekamah whole, community groups that have formed over Tekamah's history, and things in Burt County and previous or current Tekamah residents that have achieved something that has effected our country.
  • Food Court will be held at park following parade - church groups
  • Birthday Cake - Judged and given away
  • Color guard and Civil War Band will play opening pice
  • Governor, Mayor, County Supervisor and Folsom fmaily member will drive steak
  • Governor Mike Johanns is expected to be part of the re-enactment of the original plattingof the city
  • Civil War Band will play - 1 hour
  • Bill Anderson-Mayor of Tekamah
  • County Kicker will dance
  • Burt County's 150 years - Speaker
  • T-bones Band - 1/2 hour
  • Communiity Service with Celebration Choir performing Land of the Free, under the direction of Shelly Niewohner
  • Hat, Wisker, and Clothing Contest Judging
  • Pathway to the Past - Chamber of Commerce
  • Offutt Air Force Brass Quartet
