Lisa painting a prarie dog in one of the windows

Lisa Glup graduated from Tekamah High School in 1984. Ever since she could remember, she loved anything to do with art. She has lived in Tekamah area most of her life and has family that also lives in the Tekamah area. Over the years Lisa has done many drawings, paintings, and crafts. One of her favorite projects has been a painting of "Jesus and the Children" for her church in memory of her friend's son, who died of cancer at the age of 5. She also did a mural in memory of him that hangs at Children's Hospital in one of the hospital's play rooms. Lisa loves to draw people (especially children) and animals.

The mural with 5 of the window inserts Besides painting the whole yellowish coating of the building, Lisa has done all the painting herself. She first starting by painting the map on the south side of the building. The map is the area from the Platte River North to the South Dakota border and stretching as far as western Nebraska or the panhandle area. When the map was all finished, she moved to the painting of the windows. There are 12 windows each depicting a scene of the Lewis & Clark journey.
