A special welcome to those interested in the historical venture of Lewis & Clark. This educational web site is the place to be to find out what will be going on in the Tekamah area in August 2004. The city will be celebrating the Lewis & Clark journey and commemorating 150 years of this great town. Check out these exciting features!

In Mid-August of 2004 Tekamah will be celebrating its 150th anniversary as well as the 200th anniversary of Lewis & Clark's amazing journey into the western United States. To commemorate this event a mural was painted of a map of area rivers in 1804. The map was found in a journal kept by the two journeymen on their voyage of discovery almost 200 years ago. The various Native American tribes are listed in the area of their territory in 1804 along with what is believed to be the population listed in "souls." This very exciting event will bring many newcomers from all over the country to Tekamah.

The mural of Lewis and Clark & The Corps of Discovery journey map is located on the wall of the VFW Hall at the intersection of US 75 and NE 32 in Tekamah, Nebraska, a town with a population of 1850 residents. The mural itself is over 1500 sq. feet. The map is the area from the Platte River North to the South Dakota border and stretching as far as western Nebraska or the panhandle area.
